Hey, guys, it’s been awhile! And all I have are excuses: I’ve been sleepy, my hand hurts, work messed with my schedule, I’m lazy, I don’t have anything to say… blah, blah, blah.
Well, brief news first. I saw a doctor about my hand. No carpal tunnel (yet), but I do have some tendinitis that can turn into carpal tunnel if I’m not careful. So I have to brace my hands and keep an eye on it. I actually have braces on my hands now while I type this. The pain went away right before I saw the doctor on Monday and discomfort came back last night. Nothing to bad, just annoying. I blame the rain that started last night. Rain just seems to make things ache for some reason. The doctor didn’t tell me to stop crafting, though, so bonus points for him. We work together, though, so he also knows that my hands go through a lot of stress at work as well.
I do have some other news, though, and it’s super cool. Here, let me insert a pic and then I’ll explain. And there is a link on that pic, by the way. But let me continue my explanation. Picture first:
Cool, right? Nice way to show off all the designs. Besides just looking cool, it has a purpose. The title of this post provides a hint of that purpose. This year I am taking part in the Indie Design 2015 Gift-A-Long on Ravelry. I hadn’t heard of the Gift-a-long in previous years, but as I have only been designing for a little over a year, that’s no real surprise. The seriously awesome Lara Smoot of Lara Smoot Designs turned me on to this thing and I’m so glad she did. Basically, it’s an awesome thing for both crafters and designers. And Lara has an awesome bundle as well; let me insert a picture with a link here:
Anyway, what is the Gift-A-Long, you might ask. Good question, I reply. It is made of awesome. Basically, a bunch of indie designers on ravelry put their designs on sale for 25% off from Nov 19 – Nov 27 EST with the coupon code giftalong2015. The idea is that it is just in time for holiday crafting. Designers get their names out there (yay!) and crafters get some awesome sales. Honestly, I’ve seen some amazing designs out there and I seriously need to do some pattern shopping now that the sale has started. Even better (can this get better? Yes, it can!), there are CAL/KALs (crochet-a-longs/knit-a-longs) in the ravelry group for the GAL where you can not only get your gift knitting/crocheting done in community with others doing the exact same thing, but there are also prizes! So awesome!
So if you are not taking part in this, you should be! It’s a lot of fun and I’m very excited. I also need some more caffeine in my system and I think it’s showing. I am serious about the GAL, though. Check it out. It really is cool.
Until next time (which hopefully won’t be another eon)!
