Hey, guys! I’ve had a day full of CPR/ACLS practice and my hands and wrists actually don’t hurt as much as I thought they would. Bonus!
Sitting in a class listening to instruction put out by the awesome American Heart Association (seriously, they are awesome. Check them out here) got me to thinking. I forgot to share something really cool that has been going on with Franciscangypsy Designs in conjunction with the Pen, Hook, And Needles podcast. Which is just an overly impressive way of saying that I’ve been promoting this thing on my podcast in connection with our 3-month Cardiac Red-Along.
Anyway, I forgot to mention here on the blog that, ever since July 1st and through till the end of September, all the proceeds obtained from my patterns will be donated to the American Heart Association. I can honestly say that I have personally seen the benefits of the AHA. They not only make sure that health care providers are appropriately trained and certified to save lives, but they also make available the latest research to said professionals. Beyond that, they also provide amazing educational materials for the lay person who wants to feel confident doing CPR, or even to just educate themselves on how to best protect their heart and cardiovascular system. Seriously, click through their site. It’s quite impressive.
So, my CPR/ACLS training I had to go through today — training materials and certification were totally provided by the AHA. And I have personally seen patients brought back from the edge of death due to this training.
So, yeah, the long side-tangent has to do with my toys in so far that I want to give back to the AHA and do a small part to help them out. If you do too, check out my patterns. Or if you want to give directly to AHA, check out their site.
And now back to your scheduled program. Sorry y’all. Totally not paid by AHA for that. But it did have a small thing to do with my Franciscangypsy Designs. Really. If you squinted.

The Bastet test is going quite well! One tester has already finished! And we still have about a month to go. Which is great and quite the relief to my Mom’s aching hand — I had accidentally told her a due date a month earlier than that. Heehee. Oops (is a bunny).
The new secret pattern is going swimmingly. The tutorial toy is well on it’s way. I have completed the head and I would love to finish the whole toy and the tutorials by tomorrow’s podcast, but that might be pushing it. I’d love to see if a certain friend’s guess for the pattern is right. She hasn’t told me and I’m insanely curious to know what everyone thinks is coming out based on the tease of a picture I posted earlier.
Well, I’m rambling now. Next time, I hope to write a more Franciscangypsy Designs related post tomorrow.
