I never set out to seriously design. It sort of just happened. And now, a year out from starting my toy designs, it matters to me that this designing thing is successful.
So I did all the right things. I started a Ravelry store. I started an Etsy shop. I’ve even applied to have a store on Patternfish. Craftsy didn’t work very well for me, but mostly because the VAT stuff gives me a headache.
I started listening to the Creative Yarn Entrepreneur podcast for tips (great place to go if you’re a fiber artist wanting to start a business, by the way). And I started a Facebook group.
And yet I had not started a blog devoted to my designs. I had a page attached to the one about my podcast, but nothing for my designs. Nine completed toy designs in, I’ve decided that I need to change that. This designing thing isn’t going way. Toys ten and eleven are just waiting to see the light. Yarn is already coming in for toy twelve, which is already sketched out on my sketch pad.
It’s time to devote a blog to Franciscangypsy Designs.
So hi, I’m Tahlia, I’m the designer. I’m a full-time nightshift ICU nurse, but on my nights off, I’m a crochet toy designer. And I hope that you will enjoy this blog. It’s going to be a journey, but I’m hoping it will be a fun (and cute) one.
